Netgear WG102 Hacking Page

Introduction

This page is to be dedicated to the hacking of the Netgear WG102 - the intention being to one day be able to run linux on it.
This project has kind of been at a standstill for a while, due to lack of time but hopefully should resume once I get serial and JTAG boards made.

Netgear WG102

The Netgear WG102 is a wireless access based on an Atheros System on a Chip (SoC), the AR5004AP-G

Specs

Serial

The serial port on the access point is located between the antenna connector and the reset button. It is normally partially obstructed by a sticker, which contains the MAC address of the AP.
Details on making an appropriate serial cable can be found on the OpenWRT wiki.

Note: After probing the serial port with a multimeter, I've found that although it's there, it's not connected to anything. I'll take some more pictures at some point and hopefully find out where the serial port is coming from.

JTAG

This one's a little trickier to spot, located on the underside of the wireless controller (the big piece of metal).
This is a 14-pin MIPS EJTAG 2.6 Header which requires a buffered cable to be used. A schematic of a cable can also be found on the OpenWRT wiki.

OS

At the moment I can't be sure what OS this thing runs, but I think that possibly it's running VxWorks.
